Last 8 years of my life had been spent in learning languages of machines.. C, C++, Java, etc.. Few of such languages are long dead and some of these, I’m sure, will die too, eventually. Do I put them to use now? No. May be in future, yes. How I wish I had spent those years also in learning the languages of people! Languages that are ever alive!I know Tamil well enough to understand Thirukural. Like tasting the tip of an iceberg. I feel so since I never understand the depths and dimensions of feelings that our other native languages evoke and something which will be lost in translation. I am happy to have started learning Kannada.. A small step ahead towards achieving my wish of becoming a polyglot!

This was my one big desire too – wanting to be a polyglot, that is – quite some time ago, though. It’s a challenging task that takes more time than we can spare, sadly 😦
All the best to you though! I wish for you to be more successful in this endeavor than I was.
P.S: Try Spanish, always useful to have a kinda-exotic foreign language in your skill-set 🙂

Apart from time factor, interest gradually decreases when you realize you’re not progressing. Thanks for encouraging words 🙂 And ya, one foreign language will be attractive 😉 one by one, I shall
